- The property necessary
to accommodate the new
route has been acquired.
- The majority of utilities
and railroad facilities
have been relocated as
required to accommodate
the new route.
- The project's
construction work is divided
into a number of bid lettings
called "work packages".
- New roadway and bridges
are being constructed with
as little disruption as
possible to the driving
public.
- Once the new interstate
is complete, the former
I-40 alignment will be
replaced by a local boulevard
providing greater access
to downtown.
